Ellie is Sweet and Her Human Amazing-- They're Not Welcome to Live in Prince George's County

My name is Marina and I live in Baltimore. I am considering moving closer to DC for work, but Prince George’s County is unfortunately out of the question for me due to the breed ban. My dog, Ellie, is a pit mix. I would never in a million years leave her behind to move there, or jeopardize her safety by bringing her somewhere where the law labels her as dangerous.
Ellie is anything but dangerous. She is a gentle girl who loves every human she meets. She is great with kids. She loves to hang out at the dog park. Ellie even likes to go camping with me and my boyfriend; she has her own folding chair that she sits on by the campfire. She loves her humans and loves to snuggle and demand attention. Ellie is truly a part of my family. (Ellie pics attached!)
To me, the breed ban means that a member of my family is not welcome in the County. Until it is repealed I cannot consider moving to the County, which is unfortunate because it would otherwise be a great and convenient area for me to live.
I also volunteer with several overcrowded shelters in the area and have seen how many wonderful, loving pitties are out there who need homes but are unable to be adopted by residents of Prince George’s County. I am sure there are loads of Prince George’s County residents who would open their homes to these dogs and provide them with the care they deserve if the breed ban was lifted. It’s unfortunate that County residents are inhibited from being part of the solution to the overcrowding crisis under current conditions.
